REFERENCE + DECISION — cloudflare/nimbus (surfaced by Mike, Sep 3, 2026, ~7:47am): 'Docs for humans and agents, built on Astro.' WHAT: Cloudflare's docs framework/scaffolder — `pnpm create nimbus-docs`; npm @cloudflare/nimbus-docs v0.9.0 + @cloudflare/create-nimbus-docs v0.6.4 (packages dated Aug 4, 2026); MIT; Astro-based; 'every file you'd want to change is yours' (fully ownable/ejectable); agent-friendly by default — machine-readable pages, AI Search mountable; Cloudflare's own developers.cloudflare.com docs are converging on it (cloudflare-docs production references: 'Nimbus mounts AI Search instead', 'Nimbus docs are agent-friendly by default'). Philosophy: treats authoring quality the way a linter treats source. DECISION (Mike): use it NOW — scope: the GlassAgent developer-docs lane (glassagent.ai): callsign-pattern article/docs (branding per 0b8f273e/0e7de4b4: GlassAgent = developer/industry surface), and platform architecture docs rendered from the three ARCHITECTURE.md + INGESTION_CONTRACT.md as they stabilise. NOT for customer-facing DocuClear help yet (no product surface to document; MVP first) and NOT a queue jump over gatekeeper-sphere. Caveats: v0.9.0, weeks old — pin versions, expect churn. Dogfood echo: nimbus content collections (MDX + frontmatter + agent-readable surfaces) mirror the knowledge-layer patterns; nimbus sites ingest cleanly into spheres.
[Update Sep 3, 2026]: [Refinement, Sep 3, 2026, ~7:59am BST — Mike]: Nimbus role sharpened — document-as-you-build: nimbus is adopted DURING the build, not after; it becomes part of GlassAgent Workspace as the AI/USER-VISIBLE DOCS SURFACE. Connection pattern (Perplexity synthesis): nimbus is NOT an MCP tool — it is docs-as-code (MDX content in Git → Astro build → static site on Workers). Its agent surface is the OUTPUT: per-page markdown (/index.md suffix or Accept: text/markdown via Markdown for Agents), llms.txt + llms-full.txt per the Cloudflare docs-for-agents pattern, plus AI Search mountable for semantic lookup ('Nimbus mounts AI Search' per cloudflare-docs production config). Workspace integration: (1) AUTHORING — agents write docs in Git PRs alongside code (the gatekeeper build documents itself from day one; each amendment = a docs page); (2) AGENT READING — runtime lookup via gatekeeper-governed fetch of markdown endpoints, bulk ingest into the sphere via crawl_site/ingest_url (docs become sphere knowledge), and later AI Search exposed to workspace agents as a governed MCP tool BEHIND the gatekeeper (MCP pointed at gatekeepers only); (3) USER-VISIBLE — a docs gadget in the workspace rendering the site/content. FIRST MOVE: scaffold the glassagent-docs repo on GitHub; first content = the gatekeeper build docs.
[Update Sep 3, 2026]: [Commercial precedent + format spec, Sep 3, 2026, ~6:03pm BST — Mike surfaced AdonisJS Plus Flow (plus.adonisjs.com/flow), tested a custom version]: a PAID product ($149/yr early-adopter) whose core is exactly our Nimbus lane's subject — agent-facing framework documentation. FORMAT SPEC worth copying for the GlassAgent docs: cookbook entries with 'Recommended Defaults' + 'Avoid by default'/'Invalid patterns' sections (one decision per entry, recipe + edge cases + anti-patterns); spec-driven change folders (brief.md stack-agnostic PM brief, blueprint.md implementation plan, assert.md ordered test plan written BEFORE code, spec deltas in Given/When/Then); and a skills format for project conventions the agent applies unconditionally. VALIDATION: framework-aware agent context is a sellable artifact — strengthens the glassagent.ai developer-docs lane ('docs for humans and agents') and suggests the DocuClear agent-context pack is itself product-shaped. GAP IT REVEALS in our loop: we have brief (work item) + plan + run record + checks, but no ASSERT artifact — an ordered test plan agreed before code. Consider adding to the evidence standard at next revision.
