Decision P4-003 — Work Engineering Database in the Workspace DO. Thesis: a workspace DO is a self-contained work environment; the WE database defines what work exists, how work flows, which contracts govern it, what evidence supports decisions, what is blocked, and what must happen next. Storage authority (Q-A): SQLite-first v1 — port the validated Map v0 reference (records/edges/revisions/run_log tables, 22 typed domain verbs, {ok,err} envelopes, full failure catalogue) verbatim into SphereWorkspaceBase in src/workspace/workspace.ts; Artifacts /work/ tree mirror with derived SQLite+FTS5 indexes is v2. Verb port is callsign-threaded (by on mutations/revisions/run_log). Hybrid contract model (Q-B): defineContract gains inputs/outputs/rules/evidenceRequirements/operatorIndependence; characteristics keep target+method + required contractId; evaluateGate canonical. claimWorkstation enforced at quality stations only (P4-002 §3); capabilities/workingAreas advisory metadata v1 (Q-G), enforcement v2. resetAll kept as dev-only guarded. Preserved invariants: typed domain verbs (no generic CRUD), definitions vs instances, quality independence, gate direction (blocked routes to human), evidence discipline, revision+supersession, stable error responses, brief/report surface. Tests: port the reference proof sequence (quality-independence rejection, no-advance, rework reset, all-pass advance, supersession, persistence).
