APPROVED ARCHITECTURE DECISIONS — DocuClear, Sep 7 2026 Source evidence: GitHub docuclear-ai/int_control commit b5d171109fdd4f91727cd3c6695854b4e270657b (Session 21, Layer-1 platform capability map investigation RQ1-RQ5). OPERATOR APPROVAL — decisions 1–5 accepted as proposed: 1. RQ3 split confirmed: no new map gatekeeper. Per-connector domain state remains in its own gatekeeper; Workshop overseer owns platform registry truth; Work Engineering Map Gadget holds Layer-1 versioned digest cache. 2. Digest home confirmed: extend the existing Work Engineering Map Gadget, not a dedicated Layer-1 gadget. 3. Digest-first doctrine confirmed for inclusion in Session 19 §5 content PoC: one experiment, two questions. 4. Upstream asks confirmed: batch after PoC results — registry-event fan-out for maps, snippet in describeBinding, denial note on rejectAction, and governed Context agent-write path. 5. Layer 2/3 work remains separate and out of scope for this Layer-1 decision. SUBSTRATE RULING: TotalDB was a design-space session which proved the Work Engineering Map design. The actual in-platform manifestation is the Durable Object SQLite-backed Work Engineering Map Gadget created by the workspace agent. No Map migration to TotalDB is implied. INGESTION DIRECTION — APPROVED DRAFT: - One extraction run is one Map lot. - gatekeeper-ingestion remains capability and observation boundary; Map lot is the work-domain manifestation, not a duplicate owner of connector state. - Minimum lot contract fields: lot_id; retention_class (transient | retained | explicit re-supplied); extractor_version; projection_schema_version; content_version (SHA-256 over canonical Markdown + JSONL); checked_at; evidence_ref; gate_outcomes; routing; lifecycle status (draft | canonical | deprecated). - Quality/routing rule: extraction is a production station; quality station owns characteristics; outcomes cite contract version, extractor version, projection-schema version and evidence reference; failures never auto-advance and route to rework or explicit human action. - Minimum JSONL anchors: heading path, page, byte offset, bounding box. Embeddings remain optional secondary retrieval, never source of truth. - Retention class is an intake-contract term. Under transient original retention, failed extraction quality gates needing source rework require explicit customer re-supply. NEXT NARROW SLICE: probe content-version semantics using the existing GitHub PR fixture before new ingestion code or a broader redesign.
